What a blessing it is that we have such a Father in Heaven that loves us so deeply and truly, that if we only do as He wills, if we just follow His commandments and try to be the best He knows we can be... that He will pour out blessings upon us. Such a simple thing to ask, but o how marvelous it is. What a grand blessing and comfort to know that we are being watched over, protected, and guided into the paths that Heavenly Father knows is best for each of us individually. Such a brilliant blessing... and yet, why do we worry? Why do we still have fear in where He is leading us, wondering which path is best? If we do as He asks, If we try our hardest to be the best women He knows we can be... why do we fear?
Too often we place our faith and trust in what the world expects, how we should dress, act, flirt, and communicate in order to 'fit' the typical college girl model. But how marvelous it is to stand out. To rise above the petty 'standards' of the world and shine knowing that we have a greater purpose and reason for being here. We are divine, special, beautiful women of God. How much our Heavenly Father loves us and wants only the best for His special daughters. His promise is simple; embrace the commandments that He has given us, follow His teachings, and put all our trust in God and you shall have no fear. No one on this earth is perfect and our loving Heavenly father knows this which is why He blessed us with the atonement, but His hands are tied if we do not trust in Him with all our hearts and souls.
I love John Bytheway's description of trusting the Lord in the 2008 BYU Women's Conference. He explains, "We just go forward with faith and say, 'Lord, thy will be done.' Because, boy, He knows what He's doing, and if we'll just align our faith with His, that's where we'll find peace; that's where we turn for peace, as the hymn says." Through my experiences, I have grown to realize more times in my life where I say I have faith in the Lord, but I doubt, I fear, and I hesitate when I do not see the full picture or when it might not be what is expected of the world. I am grateful to see where I have been weak in my trust in God so that I can better myself and become strong, able to say, 'where will ye have me go or what will ye have me do' and know that no matter what His answer might be, I will trust and act as He expects.
Do not let the world fill your mind with doubt and fear, for if that is what you let in, faith and trust cannot reside. Be the divine and special daughters of God worthy of all the blessings He has promised us and let "thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God." (D&C 121: 45)
